  • Connect to rgmwb.gov.in
  • Click on “REGISTER YOUR MARRIAGE”. Of the various types of Marriage Registrars, select one that suit your case.
    If you are not yet married socially and want to solemnize and register your marriage, you may apply under section 13 of Special Marriage Act 1954;
    Or, if you are already married and now want to register your marriage, you may apply under section 16 of Special Marriage Act 1954;
    In these cases you have to apply before any Non-Official Marriage Officer or Ex-Officio Marriage Officer. If you both (Wife and Husband) are married and Hindu by religion and want to register your marriage, you may apply under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. For this purpose, you have to apply before a Non-Official Hindu Marriage Registrar or Ex-Officio Hindu Marriage Registrar
  • Search for your nearest Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar in your locality (Police Station). The list of Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar is published under “CLICK HERE TO SEARCH MO”. She/He shall guide you regarding the pre-requisites for filling the application form.
  • The Bride/Groom or the Wife/Husband shall fill the application form, upload their mandatory certificates and photographs, pay designated fees through GRIPS. SMS and email intimations are sent to them, as per ACT of Marriage selected. The Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar shall verify the documents, scrutinize the applications, make necessary corrections (if any), finalize the date for the registration / solemnization in consultation with the applicants. If all inputs are correct, as certified by them (Bride/Groom or Wife/Husband), the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar (as the case may be) record the signatures in Schedule-A (parties are requested to sign after careful reading of the declaration part) and the LTI of the Bride/Groom or Wife/Husband (as the case may be) through Biometric Scanner Device of both (or any one of them) and the Notice/ Application will be published, else the Notice/ Application will be CANCELLED citing appropriate reasons.
  • If the Notice/ Application (as the case may be) is objected to within the NOTICE PERIOD, the Marriage Officer designate investigates. If the objection is found to be valid, the Notice/Application is cancelled. Else, it is further processed for solemnization / registration.
  • After the recommended wait period as per the governing ACT,solemnization / registration takes place in presence of witnesses whose AADHAAR numbers and signatures are recorded.
  • On the date of solemnization, Bride/Groom or Wife/Husband (as the case may be) shall appear before the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar (as the case may be respectively) along with three witnesses. The witness shall carry their original Photo Id proof (preferably AADHAAR / EPIC / PASSPORT / DRIVING LISENCE) showing their complete address and place to the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar for verification and uploading in Portal.
    Then the Marriage Officer shall solemnize the marriage under section 13 of Special Marriage Act 1954 or register the marriage (under section 16 of the Special Marriage Act, 1954) and the Hindu Marriage Registrar shall register the marriage under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 in presence of the abovementioned 3 (three) witnesses, by recording their signatures in Schedule-B and LTIs in Biometric scanning devices.
  • The Bride/Groom or Wife/Husband (as the case may be), as per ACT of Marriage are provided with copies of Certificate of Registration of their marriage in their registered Email Ids after digitally signed by the Marriage Officer/Hindu Marriage Registrar. They shall also get two physical copies of certificate of marriages by the Marriage Officer/Hindu Marriage Registrar within 3 (three) days of the solemnization / registration.

  • All the parties applying for marriage registration are requested to fill up the application page – online with due care so that all possibilities or error can be minimized.
  • Before putting your signatures in Schedule-A and LTI at the time of finalizing the notice, check your personal details in the prepage carefully, and if found correct, then only put LTI or signatures.
  • If any correction are required, ask the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar to rectify the application first and then only put your signatures and LTI.
  • You will get the certificate of your marriage within 3(three) days of completion of the registration. After getting the certificate, verify all details, mentioned in the certificate carefully and if any error is noticed, inform the concerned Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar immediately.
  • The Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar can rectify the same within 30 (thirty) days of the date of registration only.
  • No application of correction sent directly to the support.rgm-wb@gov.in (where the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar is active) will be entertained
  • At present the respective Acts and Rules do not provide any scope of updation of records of certificate. This indicates that the information mentioned in the certificate of marriage relies on the information supplied by the applicant, based on the documents, at the time of filing applications. Any typographical or clerical error of entry can only be corrected. No addition of new or updated information is permissible under the provision of Special Marriage Act 1954 (under section 49) or West Bengal Hindu Marriage Registration Rules 2010.
  • If the correction request is found eligible by the concerned Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar, the Wife/Husband has to pay requisite fee (Rs. 100/- only for single and Rs. 200/- only for multiple field correction) and then only the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar shall rectify the error only in presence of Wife and Husband.
  • Before completion of the correction process, the Marriage Officer / Hindu Marriage Registrar shall get the copies of the erroneous certificates of marriages and the rectified copies will be delivered through the registered Email Id of the Wife and Husband immediately.
